Dominique McCormick is a lyric soprano from New York known for her “superlative vocals complimented with wonderful expressiveness and impeccable comic timing” (Houstonia).
Dominique obtained her Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music, followed by a Masters of Arts in Voice from CUNY Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music. After obtaining her Masters, she furthered her studies in France where she lived for over a decade and received a Performers Certificate in Vocal Performance and a degree in Musical Analysis from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne Billancourt. She earned her Doctoral degree in Musical Arts, (DMA) in August 2020 from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her doctoral dissertation is entitled “French Composer Martial Caillebotte and His Mélodies and Scènes Lyriques: Analytical Essays and Performance Guide.”
Dominique has performed in the United States, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium and Switzerland. Her performance experience covers a variety of genres from musical theatre, oratorio to opera. Her favorite roles to date are Josephine in Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, Contessa and Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Laetitia in Old Maid and the Thief, Micaela in Carmen, and the Wife in Breath of Life . Since moving back to the states (2015) Dominique has performed with Ars Lyrica, Lone Star Lyric, River Oaks Orchestra, St. John the Divine Choristers, Fort Bend Symphony, Opera in the Heights, Greenbriar Consortium, Houston Tuesday Musical Club, Grace Song Inc, Opera America, Elebash Hall Concert Series and St. Mark’s Episcopal. Equally, her European appearances as soloist were with the Paris Choral Society, Les Arts George V, Choeur Vittoria d'Île de France, Théâtre d'Asnières, Théâtre Tambour Royale and Choeur Lupinelle.
She has taught on the faculty of the Choeur Vittoria d’Île de France in Paris as well as Queens College in New York and the Moores School of Music University of Houston. She has served as a master class clinician for Furman University, Century Fine Arts, Fine Arts Center, Greenville South Carolina, CRR Boulogne Billancourt and Conservatoire Frederic Chopin. She also served as assistant music director of the American Cathédrale in Paris from 2008-2013.
Dominique continues to perform while running her own LLC, DoReMusique Studio. She is also Co-founder of Century Fine Arts, a community music school in Sugar Land, Texas. As a member of NATS and MTNA, she recognizes the importance of continuing education and providing performance opportunities for her students through master classes, competitions, and theory exams. She is also a performer within the Houston based vocal ensemble, The Prince Street Singers. As a composer and creator of Little Sprouts, she has mounted an early music education curriculum for 3-5 year olds.
